Advantages of Installing D-link Network Solution

D-Link produces some of the best routers in the world. The work of the router is to give different devices access to the internet. In so doing, they use either an Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi. While some D-Link routers have a DSL model built-in, others may require you to have a separate modem. A model is a device that makes it possible for the router to connect to the internet.

An Ethernet connection requires the connection of computers and other devices via an Ethernet cable. Thus, a single Ethernet cable can distribute the network to multiple machines via extension cables.

After buying a new wireless D-Link router, it is necessary to configure and set it up. You will be provided with the process through an instruction manual that comes with the device. In most cases, you have to enter the router network’s SSID on the system and set a password. On the other hand, wired routers only need a connection to a computer via the Ethernet cable. You can then connect the modem to the Wide Area Network (WAN) port.

Wi-Fi 6 works by using 1024-QAM to provide a signal that packs in a lot more data, and a 160MHz for a wider channel, which results in a lot faster Wi-Fi with unprecedented efficiency.

D-Link Router Setup

D-Link Router can be configured in just a few minutes and once you have configured the router and set it up, your Wi-Fi connection will set up and you will be able to connect to the internet through your D-Link Router.

Before proceeding, make sure the ethernet cable is attached to modem or an active data jack to the ethernet port in back of your router.

Follow these steps to set up your D-Link Router

  1. Power on your D-Link Router.
  2. Connect your PC to the router using an Ethernet Cable or WiFi.
  3. Once your PC is connected, open a web browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (The default gateway address may vary from model to model, here is list of default router IP address).
  4. A login page will appear. The default username is admin and the password field is to be left blank. Click on Log In.
  5. Now, you can configure and set up your router using the Internet Connection Setup Wizard.
  6. Under Wireless Setup enter SSID (WiFi Name) and Key (Password).
  7. Under WAN Setup choose Connect type: DHCP/PPPoE/Static (You can ask your ISP about your internet connection and the required details).
  8. After you have configured your internet connection, you can then click on Save and Connect and the router will now connect to the Internet.
  9. You can then visit the Wireless Settings and set up your Wi-Fi Network including its SSID and password.

D-link switches

D-Link switches integrate into different verticals at all scales, making it easier for you to scale your network cost-effectively whether you’re a SMB, large enterprise or even a campus.

D-link Managed Switches

Designed specifically for Small to Medium Businesses, Enterprises and ISPs, the DGS-3630 Series Gigabit L3 Stackable Managed Switches combine 4x embedded 10G stacking/uplink ports, built-in 6kV surge protection, Intelligent Switch Resource Management, and upgradeable software images.

D-link Unmanaged switches

When all you need is a cost-effective switch that allows your Ethernet devices

to communicate with each other without the bells and whistles, choose a D-Link Unmanaged Switch.

D-link switches setups

  1. Connect your D-Link switch to your network router with a network cable and turn it on. Plug another network cable into a network-out port on the switch and plug the other end of it into your computer.
  2. Log on to the computer as an administrator. Right-click the network icon in the system tray area of the Windows taskbar, select “Network and Sharing Center” and then click “Change adapter settings” (Windows 7) or “Manage network connections” (Windows Vista) in the left pane.
  3. Right-click the “Local Area Connection” adapter currently in use — there won’t be a red “X” in the icon — and click “Properties” in the context menu. Select the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” option in the resulting dialog box and click the “Properties” button.
  4. Select the “Use the following IP address” option and enter the address you’d like to set as the computer’s static IP address. Note that the first three IP address sections should be the same as your network router’s default gateway (displayed below) and the fourth section should be between 2 and 99.
  5. Click “OK” and then click “Apply” and “OK” to set the static IP address.

Advantages of D-link Networking

1.    Ability to Connect Multiple Devices

There is no limit to the number of devices you can connect to a network when using a D-Link router. It is the router’s hardware capability that will determine its performance concerning the number of electronic equipment. However, the performance of the router is inversely proportional to the number of connected devices.

Performance depends on many factors, including the router’s RAM, CPU, and the traffic it generates. So, you have to consider that when deciding the number of devices to connect. Optimally, a D-Link router can accommodate up to 15 devices. If you are using it at home, that’s enough to serve all of your network needs.

2.    Provides both Wireless and Wired Network

With a D-Link router, you can choose whether you want a wired or wireless network. Of course, a wired network required connection via an Ethernet cable. For instance, you may connect the Ethernet cable from the router straight to your computer or device. If you have many electronics, then the Ethernet cable should first pass through a hub and onwards to the machines.

A wireless network means setting up a Wi-Fi network. That creates a Wi-Fi hotspot in your home or whichever hotspot you are using the router. Once you have done that, you can connect your computer, smartphone, and other devices.

3.    Reliable Network

Modern D-Link modems work on 4G, which is one of the fastest mobile broadband. For that reason, you can choose the long-range or 2GHz, which still provides a high bandwidth speed. Alternatively, you may also select the short-range or 5GHz, which has a massive bandwidth speed. With a D-Link router, you can settle anywhere between the two extremes.

4.    Provides a Better, Longer Wi-Fi Range

D-Link routers are dual-band, work on multiple radio frequencies, and are better in terms of hardware. For that reason, their wireless range is as wide as can be. The latest 4G D-Link routers can support the connection of multiple devices around the clock. That means you can connect to the internet no matter the location in your home. You can check your social media, send emails, or watch videos on YouTube. Even in office buildings, the network remains strong enough for everyone to use.

5.    Prioritization of Bandwidth

D-Link routers are among the few models that enable you to prioritize bandwidth. It has a function known as Quality of Service or QoS, through which you can prioritize the devices and apps to get bandwidth priority at any time. For example, you can redirect all the bandwidth to Netflix if you are in the middle of a famous movie. Or, you could give priority to your laptop when making an urgent call on Skype.

6.    An Intuitive User-Interface

In the past, routers came with a menu that was too hard to decipher. Besides, some devices had only one button, which was hard to use. With the latest D-Link routers, the story is different. They come with easy-to-use settings that enable you to get what you want. For that matter, you don’t have to be an IT expert to use these routers.

7.    Regular Firmware Upgrades

The D-Link 802.11AC is the latest from this manufacturer. It provides high internet speed, giving its users a better experience with all connected devices. Even better, it comes with the ability to download and update firmware regularly. That’s important because it enables you to fix any errors and bugs that could interfere with the performance. It revamps the router and allows you to save money in terms of the cost of data.

8.    Provides Multiple Features

With a modern D-Link wireless router, you will get features that enable you to take charge of your home network. For example, you add visitors by enabling guest networks and set other restrictions. Also, you can determine the time and day when you want to cut off the internet. You can even attach an external hard drive to any NASenabled device to share files and provide backup for storage.

9.    Lightweight and Portable

As we observed earlier, DLink routers are both wired and wireless. They are compact devices that provide high levels of portability. Because of that, the routers are highly mobile, and you don’t have to fix one in the same location. You can carry your home router to work or elsewhere. As long as you are within the range of the network, you can move and use your devices anywhere.
